Production of Bio-ethanol from Jatropha Oilseed Cakes via Dilute Acid Hydrolysis and Fermentation by Saccharomyces Cerevisiae
This work deals with the bioconversion of cellulose from press cakes of Jatropha oilseeds, which is a byproduct from a biodiesel plant, into ethanol by using the methods of acid pretreatment, hydrolysis and fermentation by Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The process includes the pretreatment method of the finely ground cellulosic solid oilseed cake with dilute sulphuric acid and heating the mixture a...
متن کاملBioethanol production from Jerusalem artichoke by acid hydrolysis
The hydrolysis of inulin from Jerusalem artichoke (JA) slices by HCl under different regimes of temperature and hold (contact time) time was investigated. Final reducing sugars concentration in the hydrolyzates depended on temperature, pH, hydromodule (JA:water) and hold time. Acid hydrolysis at higher temperature and longer hold time increased the degradation of fructan to fructose and increas...
متن کاملHigh yield production of sugars from deproteinated palm kernel cake under microwave irradiation via dilute sulfuric acid hydrolysis.
Recent years, great interest has been devoted to the conversion of biomass-derived carbohydrate into sugars, such as glucose, mannose and fructose. These are important versatile intermediate products that are easily processed into high value-added biofuels. In this work, microwave-assisted dilute sulfuric acid hydrolysis of deproteinated palm kernel cake (DPKC) was systematically studied using ...
متن کاملSynthesis of Bioethanol from Artocarpus Heterophyllus Peel by Fermentation using Saccharomyces Cerevisiae at Low Cost
The most common way to produce bio-ethanol is fermenting raw materials using suitable microorganism. For this fermentation process to produce ethanol from Artocarpus Heterophyllus which is generally known as jack fruit, Saccharomyces Cerevisiae is used as a microorganism. Saccharomyces is used to produce high yield of ethanol due to its naturally adopting property and its high tolerance rate of...
متن کاملScreening of Non- Saccharomyces cerevisiae Strains for Tolerance to Formic Acid in Bioethanol Fermentation
Formic acid is one of the major inhibitory compounds present in hydrolysates derived from lignocellulosic materials, the presence of which can significantly hamper the efficiency of converting available sugars into bioethanol. This study investigated the potential for screening formic acid tolerance in non-Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast strains, which could be used for the development of advanc...
